Minnesota workers compensation benefits cover lost wages due to an injured worker's physical limitations. For example, if an injured worker has a back injury and their doctor restricts them from working at their job for 3 weeks while she is recovering, workers' comp would owe them temporary total disability (TTD) for that time period.
TTD benefits are typically calculated based on the injured worker's average weekly wage (AWW) for the 26 weeks leading up to the work injury. If for instance, in this example if the injured worker had an average weekly wage of $900.00 per week, she would be entitled to 2/3 of that, or $600.00 per week in TTD benefits. TTD benefits can run up to a maximum of 130 weeks.
